ZFWC Launches New Technical Assistance Opportunity for State Food Waste Policy
Last week, the Zero Food Waste Coalition announced an opportunity for tailored, pro bono technical assistance to accelerate progress on food waste policy at the state level.
The Coalition seeks proposals from community-based organizations, nonprofits, coalitions, businesses and local, state, and tribal government agencies who are ready to advance policies that address food waste and strengthen local food systems.
About the Opportunity
ZFWC welcomes proposals from applicants seeking to pass or implement food waste policy through legislative or administrative channels in either 2026 or 2027. Selected partners will receive up to one year of customized technical assistance from the Coalition’s Steering Committee. Support may include:
- Strategic planning and facilitation for coalition-building and stakeholder engagement
- Support navigating political or structural barriers to policy passage and implementation
- Legal and policy research, including model policy drafting
- Development of communications and advocacy materials
Eligibility
Any U.S.-based community organization, nonprofit, coalition, business or local, state, or tribal government, or a group of two or more of such organizations, interested in advancing food waste policy is encouraged to apply. Applications are especially welcomed from communities and regions with significant food waste challenges or gaps in comprehensive food waste policy.
Application and Timeline
The request for proposals is now open and will close on September 30, 2025. Apply by submitting the Google Form linked here. Full application details are provided in the Request for Proposals document linked here.
