Federal Food Waste Policy Actions
The ZFWC advocates for federal food waste policy solutions that save consumers, farmers, and businesses money; improve food security; and build more sustainable food systems.
The Coalition is currently advocating for:
- Our U.S. Food Loss & Waste Policy Action Plan, which calls on the federal government to take ambitious action to achieve national and international goals to reduce food loss and waste 50% by 2030.
- Federal standardization of food date labels either through FDA and USDA joint regulation or by passing the Food Date Labeling Act.
- Congress to prioritize food loss and waste through key pieces of legislation including the NO TIME TO Waste Act, Appropriations, and Reduce Food Loss and Waste Act.
